Closing a Chapter
After a lot of thought and a few tears, I’ve decided that Cherish Legal LLC will officially close at the end of 2025.
Why I’m Closing
When I started Cherish Legal, my goal was simple but deeply personal: to help families protect the people and relationships they cherish. I wanted to make estate planning approachable, compassionate, and practical for busy families who just wanted to “get it right” without the overwhelm.
Building this firm has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional life. I’ve had the privilege of sitting across from parents who were welcoming new babies, grandparents creating legacies, and small business owners building dreams from the ground up. I’ve been trusted with intimate stories, hard decisions, and deeply personal goals. For that trust, I am endlessly grateful.
But over time, I’ve realized something important: as much as I’ve loved the people I’ve served, owning a law firm isn’t the right path for me right now. When my family and I moved to Wisconsin, I hoped to rebuild here. But the move brought challenges that made me pause and ask some honest questions about what I really want life to look like.
After much reflection, I’ve come to see that this next season needs to be about family, creativity, and clearing space for new opportunities. The kind of opportunities that align more closely with how I want to live and work moving forward.
To My Clients
Thank you to each and every client who invited me into your life. It has been an incredible privilege to work with you. You allowed me to help you plan for the people you love most, and I feel deeply honored that you trusted me with this work.
I want to make sure you have all the information you need as Cherish Legal winds down:
Social Media: All Cherish Legal social media accounts and YouTube accounts will be removed immediately.
Client Portals: Access to MyCase, DecisionVault, and client videos stored on Loom will end on December 10, 2025.
Website: This website will remain active through December 15, 2025 and then be archived.
If you are a former client, please download any documents or information you wish to keep before the end of the year. I’ll do my best to help if you need assistance accessing anything before the firm closes.
Staying Connected
While the firm is closing, I’m not disappearing. My email, jayme@cherishlegal.com, will stay active through March 31, 2026, though I’ll be checking it only occasionally.
After that, the best way to stay in touch will likely be through LinkedIn, where I plan to share updates as I move into this next chapter.
What’s Next
Right now, I’m intentionally leaving that question open. I’m giving myself space to breathe, to rest, and to listen for what’s next.
I know that I love helping people think strategically — whether that’s about their business, their systems, or how they use their time and energy. I know I’ll always be drawn to meaningful work that helps others feel more confident and less overwhelmed.
But what shape that takes? I’m not sure yet. Sometimes the best opportunities come when we finally make room for them.
A Note of Gratitude
Closing Cherish Legal feels bittersweet; it’s part ending, but it’s also part beginning. I’m deeply proud of what this firm has accomplished and profoundly thankful for every family, colleague, and supporter who helped along the way.
If you’ve worked with me, referred a friend, shared kind words, or even just followed along, please know how much that has meant to me. You’ve been part of something that truly mattered.
Thank you for trusting me, for allowing me to do work that made a difference, and for being part of this journey.
Cheers to new beginnings!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jayme Durkee
